When will the project start and end?
The project started Q1 2024.
Road closures will consist of two phases:
- The Locust Ave closure began June 11, 2024, and is expected to end September 28, 2026.
- Armstrong Rd is expected to be closed September 28 to November 20, 2026.
Additionally, Armstrong Rd will be closed daily (until 4:30pm) Aug 14-Sept 21 for utility improvements.
The project is expected to conclude in early 2027.
What improvements are planned?
- Expand Locust Ave. and Armstrong Rd. from two to five lanes
- Expand Jurupa Ave. from two to four lanes
- Add three new traffic signals along Locust Ave. at 7th, 11th, and Jurupa Ave.
- Add three miles of sidewalks along Locust Ave. Jurupa Ave. and Armstrong Rd.
- Add trails on Locust Ave. and Armstrong Rd.
- Install 1.5 miles of underground storm drain facilities
